Release 10
Alexandria, Va., May 23, 2006 –
THETRADESHOW (Travel Retailing and Destination
Expo) is pleased to announce the National Business Travel Association
(NBTA) has signed on as a partner to host a series of classes on the Fundamentals
of Business Travel Management at THETRADESHOW
in Orlando on Sunday Sept. 10, 2006. The coursework will put participants
on the road to completing the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management
series and earning the CTE (Corporate Travel Executive) designation.
“Partnering with NBTA allows THETRADESHOW
to reach a broader audience of travel professionals who seek to expand
their knowledge of business travel and the management process,”
said William A. Maloney, CTC, ASTA executive vice-president and COO. “Those
who take advantage of the Fundamentals of Business Travel course offered
by NBTA will benefit a great deal from the experience and expertise of
the facilitators, who have years of proven results in effective travel
management.”
The Fundamentals of Business Travel is NBTA’s
starter course, focusing on the basics of business travel management.
This workshop is designed as a guide to the primary components of managed
travel. Attendees will learn how each component intersects with the required
competencies and skill sets needed in business travel management. The
course will also teach participants how to maximize cost containment,
improve efficiency and create a managed travel culture within their respective
agencies.
Facilitators will discuss travel safety and security,
travel spending trends and benchmark metrics. An overview of business
travel technology will be included, along with a comprehensive discussion
on travel policy, savings opportunities and calculating the ROI of a managed
travel program. Fundamentals of Business Travel is designed for administrative
assistants, coordinators, travel managers new to travel management, and
regional/district sales managers for travel suppliers new to travel management.
"NBTA is pleased to offer The Fundamentals of Business
Travel Management to attendees of THETRADESHOW,"
said Bill Connors, CTC, NBTA executive director and COO. "As travel
agents increasingly find success through specialization, corporate travel
management offers an opportunity for travel agents to create or expand
thriving businesses. NBTA's Fundamentals course will give participants
a base of knowledge for entering the corporate travel management field."
THETRADESHOW will take
place the second week of September every year and will be held in Orlando
(Sept. 10-12 2006) in even years and Las Vegas (Sept. 9-11, 2007) in odd
years. Travel sellers will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with
suppliers and to learn in-depth about their products. The three-day, industry-wide
event will have two travel industry-only days and will feature a day of
one-on-one business appointments. Additionally, one day will be designated
for consumers, where both travel sellers and suppliers will have the opportunity
to educate the consumer on their businesses and the best way to choose
and organize their travel arrangements.
