August 9, 2007 Update
Alexandria, Va., Aug. 9, 2007 – THETRADESHOW (Sept. 9-11, Las Vegas) will bring together more than 2,000 travel agents from across the globe, providing exhibitors with unmatched access to the top-producing, professional sellers of travel. Whether through networking on the tradeshow floor, at one of the many special events or through one-on-one business appointments designed to match suppliers with a pre-qualified group of agents, the THETRADESHOW provides the ideal environment for establishing new business relationships and maintaining existing relationships with travel retailers, wholesalers and destinations.
“This year’s event is already 65 percent ahead of last year’s THETRADESHOW in terms of agent attendance, with five weeks still to go,” said Brooke Daniels, director of show marketing and sales for THETRADESHOW. “This year’s group of attendees is special in that a third of them do more than $1 million in business each year. What that means to exhibitors is unsurpassed access to a highly qualified, successful group of agents who are looking to grow their businesses even further.”
So who’s attending? Here’s a quick snapshot of the travel agent attendees:
· Travel agent attendees originate from all 50 states and represent 30 countries.
· Of those coming from the United States, approximately (52%) will be traveling from the East Coast or Midwest.
· 32 percent of registered attendees generate more than $1 million in revenue each year.
· One in 10 attendees concentrates on corporate travel.
· Home-based agents account for 35 percent of our registered attendees.
· Among the type of travel typically sold by attending agents, 19 percent specialize in the Caribbean, 16 percent in Western Europe, 11 percent in Central and Eastern Europe, another 11 percent in South and Central America and nine percent specialize in selling Asia.
With a business “matchmaking” system, unique to THETRADESHOW, exhibitors can schedule appointments with carefully selected travel retailers who not only want to meet with them but are qualified based on such criteria as specialization and earnings.
How does it work? Exhibitors complete a profile about the types of agents they want to meet. Correspondingly, the agent completes a similar profile, and the appointment system automatically sends the matches to the agent, recommending they set an appointment with their similarly matched exhibitors.
Additionally, THETRADESHOW is one of the only travel industry trade shows to feature RFID, a badge scanning system that tracks attendees as they enter the tradeshow floor. Through this system, exhibitors can be provided with statistics and demographic details on every attendee and overall tradeshow traffic.
For suppliers interested in reaching not only travel industry professionals but consumers as well, there is the optional one-day consumer event, the 13th Annual Cruise & Vacation Show. This event will take place just prior to THETRADESHOW on Saturday, Sept. 8 in an adjacent hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
With competitive booth rates in an environment rich with business opportunities, exhibitors will be sure to walk away from THETRADESHOW with new ideas, contacts and opportunities to expand their business. Join the more than 500 companies from more than 80 countries already exhibiting, by contacting Brooke Daniels, director of show marketing and sales for THETRADESHOW at bdaniels@thetradeshow.org or calling 703.739.8709.
